Rare Smokeyham Posted September 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2022 Hello, Departing from Vancouver on a cruise in November and the latest guidance from the cruise line is that we must get a Covid test prior to boarding. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for an in-person testing location close to the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver BC? Thanks......
Northern Aurora Posted September 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2022 Earlier this month we used Empower Clinics. They are located in a lower level of the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel which is essentially across the street from the Pan Pacific. We made appointments online, and when we arrived about 30 minutes early it wasn’t a problem for them. According to their website results are ready in an hour, but in our case the results were ready in less than 15 minutes. In addition to sending us the results by e-mail they also provided a paper copy.
Rare martincath Posted September 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2022 (edited) I'd bring an Antigen test from home and use an online proctor to witness it - by far the cheapest way to get a test in an acceptable format. If you're dead-set on an in-person test, then Shoppers Drugmart on W Pender is the cheapest in town at CAD$50 and an easy walk, on the way to Stanley Park from the PP - you can call them to make an appointment and only pay when you go in to take the test. In either case, Antigen is cheaper, faster, and good enough for cruising - the only benefit to a PCR or other Molecular test is the additional duration, 72hrs vs. 2 days precruise, but since you're here in town the timing is not really a factor. If you traveling in November, I would wait a week before doing anything, or check back. The current COVID requirements in Canada are set of expire on Sept 29. The government needs to decide if they will renew them as is, modify them or simply allow them to expire. They are expected to make an announcement in the next day or two on what they plan to do.
