Santorini - question re port cancellation

When we were there on Sept. 18, I'm not sure how high the winds were, but when we went to the Princess Theater to meet for our excursion, they first told us all excursions were cancelled due to high winds.  We didn't leave, though, and then were told that only some excursions were cancelled; it depended on where their tour started and where the tender had to dock,  We were doing "Oia and Fira on Your Own" and our tender was docking near Oia--we got to go, although later than planned. Before we left, we heard that even the people whose tours got cancelled (and I'm not sure where they were originally supposed to tender) got to go ashore on their own to a different dock.

We were staying in Santorini for a few days in late August into September about four years ago when the Meltemi winds started blowing.  No ferries, cruise ships or other boats were able to come to the island. It was wonderful being there without the tourist rush, but sorry for those who did not make it.
