And just to add, that last spring we had flown to Orlando and rented a large house.  We had 3 rental cars.  As we were all on our way to the airport to return the cars and fly home,  we each got messages from Delta that all flights were cancelled for that day and we realized we would not be able to fly home for several days.  We each went on our phone apps and extended our rental agreements with a drop off in Detroit and started driving.  This was at 3:00 in the afternoon.  Maybe with a little bit of planning and  an early morning start the driving won't be so tiring.  MAYBE.
