I sailed on Eclipse this summer. It was OK. Nothing special but nothing bad. I would sail on Eclipse again if the price was right. Personally, I prefer Constellation.

We do this sometimes. Always worked out well for us. Prefer it over the craziness of the buffet and I think the food is better than the MDR. Chops vs Italian is a personal choice. NOTE: The menu is slightly different for lunch. Never an issue for us however you may feel differently

The one thing I DO NOT LIKE about Aqua is a lot of the cabins are under an overhang. Depends on the ship of course and the specific cabin. As others have said it also depends on the premium they are charging for Aqua on the specific cruise as to whether or not is worth it.

OBC also varies by type of sailing. We did an onboard booking and it looked like the OBC they gave us was less than publicized until I realized that repositioning/TA cruises had a lower amount of OBC. The biggest thing for us is the significantly lower ($100pp) deposit.

We only went there for a wine tasting. Was mostly empty on our sailing. Had comfortable chairs for sitting.

I wouldn't pay more than around $30 pp for the world wine tour. Have done it a couple of times. The wines are not the best. Probably $10-$25 dollar range in a liquor store. You will probably get to try better wines at your local wine store for free when they have tastings. However, it can be fun and if you don't have a drink package it is OK. They also put out a spread of cheese and fruit. It also depends on the quality of the people running the tasting. IF THEY ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE it helps.

Looking at the jeep tour for next April. Wondering what your experience was?

NOTICE: Not sure it was this particular cruise or that it was during summer break however there were an enormous number of children on this cruise, I heard someone mention it was about 15% of the passengers. The main hot and pool area was CROWED with adults and children all the time. Didn't really affect us, however some people might get upset. Food was OK, not great. FYI, this ship has a glass making studio up by the lawn. My wife made a glass flower. Pricey but not way overpriced. We did the shuttle back and forth to Horse Shoe Bay. Crowded but still very nice. HATED the little beach in the port. Will NEVER do that again.

Glass of wine starts at $10 but more often around $15 plus 20% gratuity. Also, for US departure each adult can bring aboard 1 bottle of wine (750ml) that has to opened and poured in the cabin to avoid the corkage fee.

I accepted the offer on an Eclipse sailing. Got the FCC fast (seems to be more restrictions than regular FCC). Haven’t gotten the refund yet. Based on what has happened so far I expect some hassle with getting money back for expenses not booked through Celebrity although the offer said it would be covered.

My biggest problem with Aqua on Constellation is the overhang. Also while I prefer Constellation over Eclipse, the Persian Garden on Eclipse is much nicer.

How does one do status sharing with a spouse? On the Celebrity I saw something that said call their Captain's Club. Can't find anything on Royal's website.

7 day Bermuda out of NJ

I think the cruise I am currently on probably has an average age around 35. Eclipse, July 28, 2024. Besides a significant number of adults under 40 there are about 350 “children”.

It has been a while since we were in Bermuda. The Bermuda Government web site says no dollars. How can you pay for the bus?

I am going to try and answer the general question about how good are Royal Carribean tours in general. As to the specific tours you might want to ask the question in the ports of call forum and also maybe on Tripadvisor and other travel sites. You might also look at the tours on the other cruise lines since they all seem to use the same tour companies. In general, I have not been that happy with Royal/Celebrity tours in the Carribean however I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their tours in the Mediterranean.

They probably oversold and are waiting for a cancellation or someone upgrading.

I recently got an email from Celebrity with almost the same wording. I believe that the Royal group is overbooking trying to maximize profits (like the airline industry) and then when not enough people cancel on their own Royal to resort to offers like this before they start to deny boarding to people involuntarily.

We did a ship excursion that hit the highlights in Rome before dropping us at a downtown train station where we got a taxi. I mention this because it was one of the better excursions I have ever taken on a Royal cruise.

There are other cruise lines that still do this.

If you volunteered for the program check to see if you are still booked, don't wait for an email. I agreed to the program and only found out when the cruise no longer showed up in my account.

Cunard does a somewhat proper English afternoon tea, Celebrity does not.
