CruisinCouple2010 Posted October 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2022 A full U.S. Coast Guard inspection always happens when a ship repositions to a U.S. port after being in a foreign port. Boarding will be delayed.
SantaFeFan Posted October 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2022 Nothing much for you to do. It just means a delayed embarkation, so arrive a couple of hours later instead of waiting in line for that time. These inspections are routine when a ship is returning to US waters for the season. They inspect for safety hazards, correct documentation and record keeping, etc., and even for stowaways or illegal contraband being smuggled into the country. So, your travel summary may have been updated. Look just before the itinerary for a bold type…Boarding times and sail time. We’ve been through it several times over the years from FLL and they are bery efficient getting the ship boarded after the inspections. Don’t worry. kiwimum Posted October 29, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2022 We have already done Immigration on the incoming cruise (yesterday in Boston). Customs should be short and sweet. Coast Guard Inspection will be the delaying factor.
qqwer123 Posted October 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2022 We’re on he same sailing. This has happened before to us on other sailings. It’s routine.
skynight Posted October 29, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2022 Normal. It happens all the time when a ship arrives after sailing away from U.S. ports for a season.
