Hi! Onboard Apex transatlantic. Will Dock in Port Everglades on saturday 12’ november.
Need an uber for transport to hotel in Miami. Is it recomended to book the trip via the app in advance or is it ok to wait until clearing customs and leaving the terminal?

(prebooked an uber in NY once and they just canselled it when i left the ship)….

thx Arne

Because of the uncertainty on timing I would wait until you are clear of customs/immigration and then request your ride.

Excellent advice especially since @Abernharis arriving on a transatlantic cruise.  All ships entering US ports after a season sailing elsewhere (or for the first time, I presume) are subject to additional US government inspections that can delay disembarkation and embarkation of new passengers.  On a November 2017 TA arriving in Port Everglades our ship was still disembarking passengers after 11 am.

If you are in no rush, we recently flew in to FLL, took a Lyft to the new Brightline Train Station, booked 1st class for the short trip to Miami. Our fare also gave us the option to include a free ride in a Tesla to anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the station.

So you were not able to get the free tesla ride to the station using premium?  Once in Miami, how did you get to the port?

We fly in a day before the cruise, so we take the Tesla to our hotel, but the terminal is within the 5 mile limit. When you book the Tesla ride, it will tell you if the address is within the 5 mile zone.

If not, there's always Uber or Lyft, with Lyft currently the cheaper option.
