dan-o 1 Posted November 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2022 We were on the Mardi Gras this past week for the first time. Looking forward to a great week, in a great balcony room, on a great deck, the Lido. We were one of the first onboard due to being Platinum Cruisers. We dropped our carry on bags and departed quickly. We proceeded to do what we were there for, enjoy a cruise. Boy were we about to get an unpleasant surprise. When we booked we we expecting to enjoy a totally unobstructed view with their first ever sliding glass door. When we finally returned to our room we discovered this. Island Dog Posted November 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2022 I'm just wondering what was guest services explanation for this?
Rare shof515 Posted November 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2022 could it be some kind of shade thing that you can remove?
Island Dog Posted November 14, 2022 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2022 My guess is that the glass was broken and that the sunset mural was put up to hide the plywood.
dan-o 1 Posted November 14, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted November 14, 2022 Guest Services offered no explanation as to what or how it happened. It was obvious as to what happened due to a dent in the beam by the door. It's a steel beam that is covered by the wall texturing. It was a piece of sheeting that was thicker than the window itself and made the door extremely hard to open completely. The room steward stumbled around our question about it which I understood. One thing for sure is they could have pick a more suitable mural. A sunset over a factory spewing smoke? Really?
Island Dog Posted November 14, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2022 Unacceptable for them to not move you or at least offer SOMETHING to make up for you not getting what you paid for.
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted November 14, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2022 I sure hope they compensated you for getting less than what you paid for! I’ll give them points for creativity in their temp solution, but they should have moved you and upgraded someone to your stateroom. That person wouldn’t care since it was a free upgrade.
dan-o 1 Posted November 14, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted November 14, 2022 Due to the huge line down at Customer Service we did not complain for a couple of days. At that point they did offer to move us to deck 12 but we had moved in and did not feel like packing up and moving again. Their second offer was $300 of "on board experience". Spa, shore excursions, specialty dining and photos. We're more casino and drink people but they wouldn't do that for us. we did accept an excursion and dinner. We feel that they could have offered us the $300 of onboard credit. We tried to convince them that we are not spa, excursion or steakhouse people. Their mind was made up and thing weren't going to go our way. I think they could have found a way to give us a heads-up before we boarded. Anyway, still had a good time.
