I hardly ever complain, but tonight I ordered goat cheese souffle, one of Princess' best dishes that I have had on each of my prior 55 cruises. However, tonight it was LUMPY MASHED POTATOES in the shape of the souffle.  Who do they think they are fooling?  And it was served with a pile of arugula and thin potato slices.  Totally ridiculous.

BrandiGreg, I hope you sent it back and asked for a proper one. Or was it eaten? Maybe the arugula was pears not potato slices? Interesting - what did the menu description say?

Who is the Executive Chef?  When I was on the Halloween cruise it was the best.  He added small slices of pears which really enhanced the taste and presentation.  The Chef then was Davide Manubo.

Still the same Chef.  We both had the soufflé tonight and enjoyed it.  Inconsistent???    🙅

My husband and I both had the souffle tonight and thought it was really tasty also.  BrandiGreg, I am sorry you had a bad experience with yours.

@BrandiGreg, that dish just looks nasty. Hope that was just a "one off" mistake. I am concerned since that is one of my favorites too. Looks like, on the new menus on many ships, they may be in the process of doing away with the fettuccine Alfredo which is my husband's go-to. I am sure we we find something to eat on our next cruise, but still...

55 cruises, always order it, always looks and tastes the same.  Had it on October Discovery cruise too.  This was entirely different.  I suspect they ran out and decided to substitute potatoes,  hoping no one would notice.  I should have sent it back but with such slow service I didn't want to take more time.  The waiter picked through it but didn't comment.  It was very odd.

I’ve been following along and it’s so sad to see the ship pulling back into port and your trip ending. Hope you all had a great time—my husband and I board her at the end of March.

Been reading all comments this morning as we head into dock.  Gotta remember there are over 3,000 passengers and there are going to be some minor flaws. A little nitpicking by some- this was an amazing cruise IMO. THE STAFF WAS FLAWLESS- minus yesterday the weather was incredible, food was great (best meal was at Sapattini’s) the cruise director was great (I don’t know how he does it). All the entertainment was great including the comedians, magician and singers.  Favorite show was Jeffrey the Elton John guy who we ended up hanging out with on the pool deck for the New Years celebration.    Got to do a ‘bridge tour’ yesterday and the captain and his crew were friendly and in great spirits despite the angry sea.  Been on 7 princess cruises and never seen a Captain as visible as Captain Smith.  Cruise gets a 10/10.   Happy New Year!!   Oh, Cabo overnight was the best!!  Went to ‘the office’ for dinner- highly recommend but make reservations!!!  Adios Amigos

We had supper in CC around 8PM and also served the mashed potato soufflé  imposter. What the hell happened, I wonder?

I'm sure they ran out as another poster said and someone's bright idea was to substitute would have been better to just tell guests we are out rather than serve a poor substitute the chef should have known better.

The captain on the Island Princes 14 day Panama Canal Voyage Dec 2017 was Michele Tuvo he was all over the ship every day saying hello, joking with passengers and crew, he is great with people.

Captain Tuvo is no longer with Princess, he is now with MSC.

Cabo San Lucas overnight.

Day 1 of 2

 

 

Today we decided to make the ship our port for the day.  Rented a cabana in the Sanctuary and did the Ultimate Balcony Dinner for 2.  That is it. Relaxed and ate good food while enjoying fantastic service. Highly recommend the balcony dinner,  and the cabana rental was nice, but cost to value ratio is just not there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We chose the surf and turf for our main entrees. Everything was very delicious, except the steaks were lukewarm while the lobster was piping hot.  And the dessert was beautiful,  but the mousse had weird powdered milk flavor.

Cabo San Lucas
Overnight
Day 2 of 2

 

Today we did absolutely nothing but lay out on the Lido deck and soak up some sun.  Half watched The Greatest Showman and did some day drinking.  Normally I don't like blended drinks, but the blended margaritas from The Mix were some of the best I've ever had.

Tonight was the last formal night, and we didn't feel like getting very dressed up, so smart casual was good enough. Also there was no Gold and White Party they advertise as happening on the 2nd formal night that I saw.
Didn't snap any pics of food or menu, but it was Beef Wellington night and it was decent.  Hubby and I commented that this cruise is some of the best food we've had since the restart on any of the lines. Yes there were clunkers, but those were in the minority.

 

And while the food has been great, service has been a huge issue.  So much so that we've asked twice to be moved in the MDR.  We aren't difficult or fussy, but when it takes over 2 hours to serve a party of 2 who just want wine service and already have the meal chosen when you sit down, there's an issue.  We found a pair of servers who were fantastic, Inyoman and Sameer, and requested to sit in their area, but they were fully booked.  I can see why.

 

After dinner I had my heart set on seeing Spotlight Bar, the final Production Show.  I was exhausted, and nodded off once, but overall really appreciated the modern music and tale Princess envisioned with this.  The Tinder date moment cracked me up.

Hi everyone.  I am back home from the wonderful cruise!  BUT 3 of the 5 of us tested positive for Covid once we got home.  I didn’t sleep well on Thursday night and attributed not feeling great yesterday to a lack of sleep. I was so exhausted on Friday night that I went to bed at 8:15. So I decided once I got home I better test myself.  Lo and behold; positive.  Luckily our symptoms are mild; headaches, bit of coughing and tired.

 

I wanted to warn everyone because we definitely contracted it on the ship.

Thanks for the heads up. We feel fine but plan on testing so this is a good reminder. I hope your symptoms stay mild.

@spingal I hope you feel better soon!  I board the Discovery on the 14th and purposely chose the 7-day itinerary in the hope of lessening my chances of getting it.

I hope you feel better soon.  I have a feeling quite a few might be going home with an unwanted souvenir.  Heard on another board someone asking for cough syrup.  I don't think there's a cruise going these days that escapes unscathed.
