Pre-Cruise Hotels In Rome

We have stayed a couple of times at Hotel Nord Nuova on Via Giovanni Amendola, about two blocks from Termini Station,  where the express from the airport drops you, and where you can get the train to Civita Vecchia the next morning; also where  the two Metro lines intersect if you wanted to get around the city.   Reasonable price, clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast, several good restaurants in immediate neighborhood.

As mentioned,  looking at the Italy board would be a good idea.

Getting a lay of the land by looking at Google Maps or similar would also be a good idea.  Rome is 30 to 40 minutes drive East of the airport.  The port is an hour north of of the airport,  and 75 or so minutes northwest of Rome. So "easy to get to the port " is a very challenging concept.

Now that the Mods have moved this to the Italy board, take a look around. There are many threads here on hotels. There a few options on transport...many discussions on that as well. You will need to decide your mobility and ability to lug your suitcases and select the transport method that works for you.

Last fall we stayed close to FCO airport in Fumicino & loved it.  It was next to the ocean with so few people.  A complete different vibe than Rome.  Lots of restaurants to choose from and less expensive.  We stayed at Hotel Riviera.  Large rooms with nice breakfast.  It's closer to the cruise port than center of Rome.  We also stayed in Rome prior to cruise at Delle Tora Argentinia - it was wonderful.  Great location, but a little pricey.

Thanks for this info!  I may try this out as I have been in Rome several times and done the RR to the port at least once, which is kind of a hassle.
