Georgetown: Turtle center with a 4-year old; transportation easy?

Is this a good excursion for a 4-year old who enjoys snorkeling?  So many of the tours have age limits, so I wanted to see if anyone has experience with it.

 

Are cabs/buses reliable in Georgetown where we won't need to use a ship excursion?  Does the turtle center sell out often, or is it an easy, open admission?  (I see I can purchase tickets online, with a very flexible cancellation.  Just want to make sure there is no good reason to go with the ship. (We always get back early.)

Taxis are easy. If you just want to snorkel and you have your own gear, look into Smith Cove or Barefoot Beach where you can snorkel from the shore.
