How Busy Will Your Port Be?

For all the newbie cruisers, there is an easy way to know how many ships and approx. how many people will be in port on any given day. The site is Cruise Timetables. It's not a pretty site by any means but it's easy to use. https://www.cruisetimetables.com/#ports

Choose the country and the port city. Once in there, click the calendar date you will be visiting and you'll see which ships and approx. how many people will be there. For instance on June 16, 2023 there will be four ships visiting Juneau, Alaska with approx. 10,600 potential passengers. It's a great site to know how busy your ports will potentially be.

This can be useful information (if you are interested in doing some research before choosing a cruise).  There are some days when Philipsburg on St. Maarten will have five or more ships in port  - putting over 20,000 visitors - which really impacts the experience since the entire population of Dutch St. Maarten is just about 44,000. The crowding on those days is brutal.

This site and others are fine for getting an approximate idea of how many ships/passengers may be in port, but they aren't official sources and often aren't updated to reflect itinerary changes.

By doing an internet search you can find official port schedules published by some port authorities, which are often more accurate.

This site has been quite accurate for me for years. There are always going to be changes due to itinerary changes and unforeseen circumstances, but this site has been really useful to us for years.
