janetcbl Posted January 19, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2023 There is a lot of information on CC about Bergen. Check out Northern Europe and Baltic CC site. Briefly, Floyen, Bryggen, “Norway in a Nutshell”, Ulriken, Fish Market should not be missed.
biggerbearmom Posted January 20, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2023 This is a fabulous itinerary and you will enjoy it. It is a lot of bang for your buck. A few highlights for me was visiting Montserrat Abby, Monet’s Garden and Home (both were Viking Tours) and we did The Alhambra with Spain Day Tours which was just wonderful. In Barcelona we visited La Sagrada Familia on our own. We booked a tour directly through their website and it was spectacular.
MSEm Posted January 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2023 We really enjoyed the "Mary Rose" museum in Portsmouth, England. The ship was England's newest and most "modern" ship the sunk in it's first battle in 159?. The ship was raised and placed in a special built museum during the 1980's. WE were guided by a museum guide that really told the story of life on the "battleship". We also enjoyed the Tulip Bulb farm in the Amsterdam area. Enjoy your cruise.

Loved everything about it, have since booked another 2 VOC & looking to book another for Christmas 2024. We had been to a few of the ports before but those we hadn’t visited before we were really impressed with i.e. Bergen, Vigo & excursion we took to Honfleur (from Le Havre).

How could I forget…Keukenhof Gardens is just stunning, absolutely amazing. But, it is only from March until May.

The Mary Rose sank after 30 years service in 1545. Great Museum but I really loved the Vasa Stockholm museum. That ship was raised with the hull intact after sinking on its maiden voyage in 1628. The sight of the entire ship just took my breath away.
Mrs Miggins Posted January 22, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2023 Sorry didn't realise that this cruise only has one day in Norway and doesn't visit Sweden at all. Just put the Vasa on the bucket list for another time.
