Hi there,

We have cruised Disney, NCL and P&O before but this year we have two Princess cruises booked, one on Enchanted in the med for two weeks and one on Island Princess for Norway in October. It will be interesting trying one of the oldest and newest ships.

I have three daughters and my eldest two are 18 and 17 and a half (15 month gap!!).

I just wondered if anyone had any tips for these ages to get the most out of particularly the med cruise which myself and my 17 year old chose after many hours of planning and searching together.

I saw in a video one person commenting that the adult only pool and gym is 16 plus? This would be helpful as she uses the gym a lot at school and she is keen to carry on whilst away, she is a very mature 17 year old. She is most excited about the ports and is spending a lot of time planning what we can do at them which is good as there are a lot of ports to visit!

For the 18 year old I feel like it might be challenging for her to meet other people her age as obviously she can't go to the club, I'm not sure the singles and solo travellers meetup is right for an 18 year old.

Tell your daughter to check the patter as they do have  meet ups for the 18-20 year old set. Keep in mind, thought, that, for cruises that happen during the school year (high school or college) there will be very few younger people on board.

Your 18 year old can absolutely go to the nightclub.

And drinking age aboard for your Med cruise will be 18, FWIW.  Depending on where you're sailing for Norway, onboard age may be 18 also for booze

Casino is 18 and up...

Yes, Retreat Pool is 16 and up, or at least was on Regal and Royal .. no Retreat Pool on Island.  Gym is 16 and up.

There's 18-20 year old meetups listed in the Patter.. basically meet and mingle, some few activities - but at 18, she can do anything aboard as any other adult.

The 17.5 year old will be a little tougher - no club, casino, bars, etc but she can participate in all the other entertainment (even what's happening in the various lounges/bars), there is a teens club and there will be some aboard - whether shed enjoy that, who knows.. usually they just end up hanging out together somewhere and roaming in packs.

Med cruises tend to be port intensive, so you'll be busy off the ship most days. Evenings, dinner, theater show, game show, and some music and voila, night is done!

Enjoy.
