FLAHAM Posted January 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2023 Washington Post reports that, in the D.C. area, $14 is now the “average” price of a cocktail, with many pushing $20 in such places as hotel bars. We may all be paying the excess over the NCL Free at Sea $15 limit for drinks in the near future.

If that happens it may make them raise the limit. Who knows. I select the Free At Sea beverage option but I don't drink enough to go over board with my $$$ ordinarily at home so I wouldn't do that on a cruise either. I would likely skip the the FAS option and just buy a few drinks here and there outright.

However, I recall reading on CruiseCritic, in the pre-FAS days, quite a number of posters bragging that their bar bills exceeded their cabin fares.
mjkacmom Posted January 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2023 Drink prices on cruise ships have always been cheaper than local places for me. House wines start at $12, cocktails $12, beers $9. I’m a big fan of byob restaurants for this reason.

Now they brag about how much they tip their steward or butler, or how much they paid for a cabana on the private islands… 2
