ScotsLady Posted January 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2023 Hello, we have a cruise booked on Celebrity Millenium for March 2024 Tokyo to Tokyo. we will fly into Haneda and go to a hotel in Yokohama pre cruise. How many days would people suggest to stay in Yokohama? we intend to stay on post cruise. Should we stay all the time in Tokyo doing tours from there or should we move around? We want to see Tokyo and also go to Hiroshima and Miyajima. I read you can do this in a day trip using the bullet train. Or would we be better using a tour company to arrange everything for us and if so can anyone recommend a company? Thanks for suggestions Irene
bennybear Posted January 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2023 (edited) Hello Irene, IMO Hiroshima and Miyajima are worth two nights, it’s a long way by train and don’t think it’s really possible as a day trip. We flew there from Tokyo the first day we arrived and worked our way back to Yokohama over 10 days by train. We stayed at a nice hotel right at the train station in Hiroshima. Kyoto is worth spending several days and Yokohama is a pretty city with nearby beautiful gardens. You will also have some jet lag to contend with so spending a few days acclimatizing prior to the cruise would be a good idea. We then spent the last four days in Tokyo after the cruise. It is a very intense busy city and we worked up to it at the end. We found it very easy to travel in Japan, the people were lovely and the trains excellent.
