We booked a private guide for our 2 days in Rio. He was great. With a private guide we were able to email back and forth as to what we wanted to see.  I cannot believe how much we saw.  We did get to Copacabana Beach, Ipanema becach, Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf....and so much more.We used Augusto Guimares....Tour Guide Gus.

What were the crowds like at the Redeemer and Sugarloaf?  The day we are in port, we will be one of 5 ships alongside.   We have a private tour but thinking of skipping these 2 sites due to the crowds.

5 ships in port...oh my. We had another ship in port. Took a bit to find our guide,. Small terminal and street just outside filled with people. Sugarloa and Christ the Redeemer were  extremely crowded but our guide got us through. Also we had him for 2 days....we flipped the 2 because the first Day was very foggy and he said we wouldn't see much from whichever he had planned. Worked out great....another cou0le 9n the ship said they couldn't see anything because of the fog.  If you can, don't wear any jewelry that can be snatched. We were repeatedly told this by our guide, lady at restaurant holding the door.
