BBfromCA Posted February 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2023 I understand that the Small Group Excursions are limited to around 12-16 passengers. My question is: Are the Small Groups taken on the excursion via the normal large bus (with plenty of room for everyone), or taken in smaller vans? rcandkc Posted February 6, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2023 We were taken on smaller vans but still plenty of room.
jeb_bud Posted February 6, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2023 Usually a smaller bus, but not always. Last July on a Norway/Baltic cruise we took three small group excursions. We chose the small group Trollstiegen tour so we could be on a smaller bus on that very curvy road. We wound up on a big bus, but a small group. At lunch there were four full size buses each with around 12 passengers. In Helsinki we were in a small bus with every seat taken. We were lackadaisical about getting to the bus and had to rake the back seats which were elevated and had poor access to the windows. It was a fine tour and we enjoyed the small group but was a learning experience about seating. In Stockholm we had a greater sense of urgency getting to the bus got much better seats😇
Timeflies Posted February 7, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2023 Depends upon what vehicles are available to the tour company and how many in the group. Have used both large and small and neither were crowded!
mrlevin Posted February 7, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2023 In my experience, on a small bus without many if any empty seats and lower in stature so not as scenic. I would hesitate booking a SG unless the bus part is short and not scenic.
Rare loriva Posted February 7, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2023 Not on the question of buses, but in our experience if you book a SG that includes a meal, tea, or pub stop you will be there at the same time as the normal excursion group. So your SG may expand to a normal group.
