Barcelo vs RIU day pass?

I have read about the chair issues at both resorts, but I am looking for a nice pool my mom can enjoy for the day, she is not a beach person.  Which one would you pick.  Barcelo is much cheaper but wanted to see what people thought about it.

We have even to Barcelo(will be back 4/29 off the Summit) many times but never Rui, and chairs are very difficult to find. As with most resorts there are towels on everything from the guests put there early, but a nice gratuity to pool staff seems to miraculously find a couple loungers.
