Healthmark Posted March 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2023 Never been to Europe and taking a Transatlantic cruise this April. Does Lisbon have a HOHO Bus in Lisbon and has anyone used it? Any recommendations? Thank you.
Rare John Bull Posted March 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2023 There are two competing operators. When we were there only one had a route which included Belem Tower, and a stop at the cruise berth near there. So if things haven't changed and your ship berths there that's the obvious choice. But most cruise ships berth much further up-river, close to the city centre. If you choose to take a ho-ho (not entirely necessary), the other ho-ho operator also included (still includes?) a vintage tram ride. JB 🙂
Rare mskaufman Posted March 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2023 We used the Lisbon HOHO pre cruise and it worked out well. It was easy to get to most of the Lisbon sites and, particularly, to Belem.
Rare Hlitner Posted March 6, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2023 There is a lower cost option in Lisbon which is to simply take the popular #28 Tram. One can also take a different tram l(#15) line out to Belem. A one-day unlimited tram pass used to cost about $7.00. Hank
Lady President Posted March 8, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2023 We took cruises out of Lisbon twice in 2022. Lisbon has a very nice HOHO bus with the right amount of stops. (We've been on some that seem to stop every couple block and some that only have a handful of stops in a huge city.) As someone mentioned, there are two major HOHO lines in Lisbon. Our preference was the one that had separate stops at Belem Tower and Jeronimo's Monastery. It seems like they're close and you wouldn't need two stops, but they're separated by a major road with a lot of traffic.
cfkm1 Posted June 9, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2023 I find it is more fun taking the tram in Lisbon than HOHO bus as hilly, narrow and twisty roads are not accessible to the bigger bus.
gaspari Posted July 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) We love Lisbon, but were not that impressed with the HOHO bus, which went around some less than attractive modern areas outside the immediate centre. The centre is quite compact and very walkable, much of it not that suited to big buses. Belem is lovely too, but a bus, tram or taxi will quickly and easily take you there Edited July 2, 2023 by gaspari Typo
JsEscape2 Posted September 21, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Which line takes you to Belem, Red or Yellow? We have a hotel in Rossio, do any of the Ho -Ho lines stop there? and could we Hop on there instead of going to the start? Mobility is somewhat of a problem for us, so walking places all day is not on option. Thanks
