Wine Service on HAL

Recommended Posts

Currently on the Noordam and dining at speciality restaurant Canaletto. Ordered a glass of Washington State

Merlot. Very nice wine, went well with the lamb chops. So I ordered a second glass. This one was not so good. Asked to see the bottle, and it was an Australian merlot from the Nsw irrigation belt. Wine waiter was summoned. He came compete with silver tasting scoop around his neck plus a bottle of Napa Valley Merlot, which I declined. Someone should tell HAL that if they don't have what you ordered, they should be honest, and not substitute something else and hope you won't know the difference.

On Westerdam over Xmas/NY it took at least 4-5 days of a 14 night cruise to educate our dinner waiters about how we like wine by the glass - one wine with the appetiser and another with the main. The selection of wines was very basic too. 🙁
