tj_shopper Posted March 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2023 Hi there. This might be a really dumb question but I'm trying to purchase train tickets from Rome to Florence for a day trip. When I go into the search engine to purchase tickets, there are so many websites to order from. Which website is the legitimate one I should go to buy tickets? Thank you in advance. Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2023 Buy directly from the train operators. In Italy, there are two major operators: Trenitalia: https://www.trenitalia.com/ (select English language option at top right) Italotreno: https://www.italotreno.it/en I've always used Trenitalia, the longstanding line. Italotreno is more of a newcomer but offers an alternative on some routes.

I used Trenitalia for my tickets. We are flying into Rome and going directly to Florence upon arrival for two nights before leaving on Celebrity Constellation in Ravenna.

When I went to check, there were so many on line sites and I got all confused.

I was doing a little digging on the Trenitalia site and found the Trenitalia Pass - EASY that includes 3 trips over seven days. I am assuming that this would cover my travel from Rome Fiumicino to Venice on Saturday, Oct 14 then travel from Venice to Florence on Sunday, Oct 15 then travel from Florence to Rome on October 16. It seems to be a much better value than buying tickets individually. I can't tell if the pass applies to any Trenitalia train that is running or only specific ones. Have you used this pass? Actually, I totaled up the individual tickets and I don't think there is much savings. Oh well 😉 Edited March 22, 2023 by ninjacat123
