Can someone compare ships for me?

We're regular HAL cruisers, but are ready for a new itinerary, and are looking forward to trying Celebrity. Our preference on HAL has been their smaller ships...prior to the Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, etc. Does Celebrity have smaller ships or are all of their ships the larger type? Anyone have a favorite ship they'd like to recommend?

Thanks!

Once 14,000 tons was small. Today 49,000 tons is small. The Galaxy is 77,000 and some consider that small. It that is the size you refer to......

Both Celebrity and HAL have one thing in common. Classy interiors, quality throughout. Neither is big on neon and glitz but both give off an aire of elegance.

The Galaxy, for example is truly and easy ship to learn early on, no elevators to nowhere, things are beautifully laid out. Hope that is what you meant.

The one major difference. Celebrity makes announcements at noon. Celebrity assumes all passengers can read and understand the dailies. HAL, has a side business in repairing ear drums....They must have with the way they blare BINGO announcements.

One other difference, food. Both prepare quality food. I have found HAL tends to the less spice, more bland approach..probably a reaction to years of comments from loyal passengers. Note, this is not bad, just a difference.
