Didn't they used to have self serve coffee on deck on some ships? I haven't cruised in a few years but I seem to remember that. Same at the AI's in Mexico. I'm up looking for coffee at 6am and nothing is open until 7am.

Have I mentioned how much I despise the early morning options? It is not designed for the early riser.

As for early riser options, I think it depends on what you want. Speaking for Voyager class and above (I'm inexperienced with smaller ships)...

  • Cafe Promenade is always there for coffee and pastries. I see people sitting around there very early having coffee.
  • On Oasis class, Park Cafe usually opens at 6:30am. I enjoy going there as soon as they open for a pre-breakfast bagel or McMuffin. Central Park is very quiet and peaceful that early.
  • If you're Diamond or in a suite, the DL/SL has the coffee machine which I used to frequent very early but it seems to not be available until 7am on some ships/sailings now which annoys me.

My preferred routine is to hit the DL for cappuccino and either Park Cafe for the above mentioned items or else just grab some pastries. Then of course I have my actual sit down breakfast a little bit later.

Also, in my experience, the WJ is not crowded as soon as it opens. I know many don't enjoy it (I do but different strokes) but our cabin was right below it on Indy on our last 2 cruises and some mornings I popped in for a plate of pastries to take back to my cabin and have with my DL cappuccino (they also had pre-made smoothies in tiny plastic cups that were very good),

Yes. You can get coffees and pastries on the promenade.

We are pulling into San Juan. We will be getting off the ship to do some shopping and get some drinks. We have hibachi tonight at 7 so will only be getting off for a few hours. The weather is really nice. Sitting on our balconies while the ship is pulling in.

We had breakfast in the MDR which was packed. If you have 400 people waiting at the door when you open you are opening too late.

We went to playmakers at noon for some wings. We loved the buffalo medium so attempted the hot and they were too hot for us. For those that are unaware they have 4 old school arcade games in playmakers that are free to play.

A word of warning... Donkey Kong is incredibly tricky when played upside down. Barrels rolling uphill are confusing.

Couldn't help it. Enjoy San Juan!

Haha…My son locked my screen so I would stop doing that.

We got off the ship and did some shopping. We stopped into Raices for mojitos and appetizers. It seemed like all the appetizers were fried. We ended up getting the cheese and an order of fish tacos. I didn’t care for the cheese. The tacos were fine but we were charged $4 more for them than was listed on the menu not sure why. We had coconut, mixed fruit, regular, and mango mojito. I didn’t think they were anything special. They were small and $10 a piece. I think it was the Mofongo that we should have gotten.

Has anyone seen Aeromyth? I’m assuming they do Aerosmith? Going to attempt to drag the family there after Hibachi.

We were not impressed with Aeromyth. The band is really good but the lead singer 🙄 Let’s just say he’s no Steven Tyler 😂

We really enjoyed the hibachi. My favorite was the scallops. I was unfortunately pretty full at that point. My non-drinking son decided he wanted to try sake. That was my tipping point apparently. I would say this is the first time I’ve been drunk on this trip. Like I’m not sure I can walk a straight line. Yikes

Good Morning from St Thomas. We rolled in at about 6 am. It is another beautiful day with perfect weather. I’m going to get the family up in a few to head to breakfast. I’m not sure what we are doing today. We had talked about going to the beach. We will see.

no more sake for me.

So a few things about Izumi pricing. We have the UDP but still had to pay $15 up charge per person to eat there. We were told any sushi we ordered at the Hibachi we would have to pay for. We didn’t seem to have any entree restrictions. You pick 2 meats and they can be anything including double lobster.

We were a pretty dull group today. We did get off the ship and shop a little in the port. We did briefly discuss taking a taxi downtown but that was a no go. It rained briefly but then cleared up and the weather was nice for strolling.

We got back on the ship and enjoyed a few trivia’s. The guys enjoyed a game of ping pong. We stopped into loco fresh for a little food then went to playmakers for a little more food. Tonight is our 2nd CP 150 reservation and it has been decided to cancel it.

I managed to break two nails this morning. I went into the spa around 2 to see what my chances of getting a shellac manicure in the next 24 hours. They were able to take me right away. I was quoted $79. but when she rung me up she said I get a 20% discount. It ended up being about $75 after gratuity.

Walked in to watch Aeromyth for a few minutes. I’ll save my family from that torture. It wasn’t good.

We saw them on the anthem and thought the same. Their sound/music in 270 was not good.  We were so looking forward but were  disappointed.

So not much else happened last night. I spent the evening in the casino. I took a break to meet up with everyone in Vintages. We enjoyed it.

Today is our last sea day. I’m sure we won’t do much. We have already done a trivia this morning. We hit playmakers for more food and a burger was ordered. I should have taken a pic. This looked nothing like what I was served earlier in the week. It was declared delicious.

it is overcast so far today. The captain just said we are near Turks & Caicos. There is talk of mini golf and I’m sure the afternoon will include more trivia.
