Carnival Luminosa Transpacific Seattle to Sydney Sept 19, 2024

Recommended Posts

Welcome our newcomers.  My wife and I were scheduled to go to Israel with our church group, leaving on Oct 8th.  Our whole group was packed and ready until we saw the news of the attack.  Collette canceled our tour for our safety, but please pray for those in Israel and their families...  Here is an update on our group Transpacific to Sydney.

We're on another forum and they suggested Hotel Theodore in Seattle.  Looked it up and it looks very nice.  Convenient to a lot of things and there is a promo code to use:  Let them know you are with others in our "Luminosa Group"  {//Flip.on/JJBO7Ny}

Sorry PROMO CODE is(//Flip.to/JJBO7Ny)

Have any of you been to Sydney?  We are planning on staying there for a couple days before flying out and wondered what would be great to do or see...

Do the hike from Bondi to Coogee.  It is beautiful as it follows the coast.  There are stairs in random places but its not difficult and you are not rushed.  We used Uber to get to and from.  From Circular Quay you can take the ferries to the Sydney Zoo and/or Manly where there is a nice beach.  Take a tour of the Opera House, see a show there is you like, and walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens that are adjacent.  We took a tour to the Blue Mountains that included a fantastic wildlife refuge on the way.  If you aren't afraid of heights you can climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge.  I couldn't do it but plenty of people are up there throughout the day.  We stayed in Circular Quay area at the Shangri-La.  It's really nice but pricey (I used my Chase Sapphire points though)  The train is easy to use to get to the airport from that area as well.  You don't need Australian dollars - just tap that Visa or Mastercard.

We stayed at a LaQuinta in Seattle that was walking to Pike's Market and the Space Needle.  Again I used points but it looks like the $270 range.  It was nothing special but we were only there to sleep a few hours.  We went to an Ed Sheeran concert in the Seahawks Stadium and getting an Uber was next to impossible and EXPENSIVE so we walked the 2 miles back to the hotel getting in at 11:30 pm.  We felt safe (2 women) but those couple of blocks that seemed straight up near the end of the walk were killer.  We also did a harbor boat tour through the locks that was just okay.  I've taken the ferry to Bainbridge before and enjoyed that little island.  The LaQuinta is on 8th and the Theodore is on 7th a few blocks apart.  But like I said, nothing special.  We stayed at the Embassy Suites at the airport before out cruise and used a shuttle to the ship from there.  The LaQuinta was for after our cruise and was a quick Uber ride from the ship.

Do you have a PVP from Carnival.  I use Charlene Reisler 1 (800) 819-3902 EXT. 82937.  You can call her and tell her Jim & Deb Kelly said to call her.  She will actually give you a call when it opens up and you can use her for getting a great room, a great price, on any and all your Carnival needs.  She is wonderful to work with and we have used her for many years.  We turn Diamond on our cruise so 220 nights on board.

Booked casino rate for Seattle to Sydney September 19, 2023 cruise.

After disembark in Sydney, one night at HIE across from airport.  Then six back-2-backs on the Splendor.  Should be interesting...

My first attempt at joining a board. Hello everyone.

Thanks.  Different room each leg. I always get a different room as I enjoy interacting with room attendants from around the world.  If someone has done B2B in Sydney can you please advise if process is similar to Port Canaveral?  I lived in Hawaii four years if anyone has any questions about our port visit there.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.

We are renting a car and going along the southern part of the island.  Checking our Diamond Head and then to a beach east of there to snorkel.  Last time we  did Pearl Harbor, Dole Pineapple and Wiamea Bay.  Got there just after the Big Surf Comp. in Dec.  What a blast to play in those waves.  Any suggestions going South and East?

Kualoa Ranch has okay tour...filmed jurassic park and other movies there.

Lanai lookout has nice view and some hiking.

Halona blowhole lookout is okay.

Sandy Beach is nice.

You will see signs for these as you drive around south and east sides.  Hope you have a good time.

Wei 57Wei, Thanks for the info. Hiking is kind of our thing along with kayaking and snorkeling.  in 2022 I hiked the Camino de compostela from St Jean Pied de Port and met my wife on the way and we finished together. (I did 779 Km and Deb did 118 Km which is not bad at all since she had her right hip replaced in  August of 2020.)  Last time we rental a car we had to go a couple of miles away by bus to get the car.  Is that normal?

Seasoned Firefighter.  A couple of major rental cars used to be across from the main terminal.  It's been 14 years since leaving, and it's possible that may have changed.

Otherwise, most were a shuttle ride away.

I've read about the Camino trek. That's a long hike.  Congratulations.

It was an amazing experience.  I would encourage anyone to try it.  You can do any length of walking.  The minimum for a compostela is 100 Km.(Essentually from Sarria to Santiago.)  I'm planning a second trip to walk in 2025.  We will just find one on google maps that isn't too far from the docks and schedule a car for our adventures.  Thanks

Hi. If you are only staying a couple of days in Sydney then it is nice to stay in the harbor area. It has a real "vibe" to it, especially if a cruise ship is docked. The Opera House and Botanical Gardens are right there, as well as lots of historical places to poke around (if you enjoy learning the history of places you visit). Then, when you return back home and see Sydney in the news, or on a show, you can say "we were there" !

Thanks Kallie,  I've added you to our short list. We are also planning a trip to the Blue Mountains and maybe to Bondi Bay.
