gopackgo21 Posted April 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2023 My mother in law booked her cruise and put 2 people, herself and then a TBA, but will be going alone. It’s time for her to check in since our cruise is coming up and it still is asking for her to add her guest info. Is there a way to remove this online or do we just ignore it? Cruising_Addict Posted April 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2023 Call Carnival and ask them. There is technically no such thing as single occupancy on a Carnival cruise. But, you can still book only one person in a room. But the rate is based on double occupancy.
gopackgo21 Posted April 16, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted April 16, 2023 It was a casino offer that she had, so she paid the taxes and fees for double occupancy, but I wasn’t sure if it would matter if I never checked the “tba guest” in.

If the TBA never shows up after the cruise the fees and taxes will be automatically refunded for no shows. I wouldnt call. Let it go.

I would call and have the TBA removed. I had to do this before because the system wouldn't let me print out my boarding pass until both parties checked in. They removed TBA no charge, and refunded taxes & port fees for TBA. They advised me that if an actual name was populated a charge would likely apply. Just curious why she would book that way when she is solo? Now, she has paid the extra taxes and has to wait for it to be refunded.

The entire cruise fee was only $400 for a balcony and I was able to talk to carnival today and they just removed it and she will get the $200 as on board credit. All works out because she will spend more than that in the casino. Lol

One reason could be if you booked a cruise and weren't sure if the other person could come, but you want to be able to save a space for them to join later if they want. If you just booked solo, and then tried to add a person later on, it might not work if the ship is at capacity and they aren't allowing additional passengers.
