Cruise insurance

Does anyone know how Princess calculates the cost of their trip insurance that they offer.   I know it is 8% of cruise fare but is it cabin fare or fare including cabin, taxes and port fees?   TIA

Cruise fare only - but that may now include the PLUS or PREMIER packages if they are included

in your fare when booked.

Correct.  If you happen to purchase Beverage packages after initial faring, your insurance will go up to cover it.  

 

I've considered waiting to buy packages onboard with OBC....but anything can happen in two years.  I think the Plus went up twice within a year ... $40 to $50 to $60.  That's more than an 8% increase each time.

We just added insurance to a Feb 2024 cruise today - I forgot to do it when we booked almost a year ago...  The cost was based on the fare including the Plus Package.
