kajsb Posted May 31, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Hello to all my fellow cruise critics. We are on the Pride and what an awesome ship. Our room (4228) with the wrap around balcony is unbelievable. Everything has been perfect so far. Barry and I were the first to board after the wedding parties. Advantage of early QM check in with disabled boarding. Had a short meet and greet with some fellow cruise critics which got the cruise off to a wonderful start. That's all for now folks! kajsb Posted May 31, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted May 31, 2004 boom op, Weather is cool and cloudy, absolutely NO sun! But otherwise the cruise is wonderful. We are 340 miles away from Long Beach. Captain just made the announcement and we have over 700 miles to go to PV. kajsb Posted May 31, 2004 Author #11 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Gary, she is a beautiful ship! I HAD to leave during Greg's tour presentation but I managed to sneak out when his back was turned! From my postings on cruise critic, Greg has acknowledged me by name and each meeting in the Taj Majal. He also mentioned cruise critic this morning to those in attendance and said what a great website it is. He told everyone about Mark's detailed review= Mark is getting famous! But, he wanted to know (as he announced to the audience) why I was taking the time late last night to post a message. Well, first it is important. Next, I had a late night. For those of you who have never had to use the infirmary, it is nice and they do treat you well. After all the planning and packing I did, thinking I had everything, I left with my heart medications sitting on the coffee table- sent me into quite a panic. They gave me some meds to get by until we get to PV where the doctor will write me RX to have filled (propably at WalMart). Of all the things to forget, it had to be this. Anyway, my daughter went by my house to get all my dosages of meds so I can get the RX. kajsb Posted May 31, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted May 31, 2004 The log book is on a small round pedastal table just inside the entrance of the library and is available all hours of the day. Rocky1540 Posted May 31, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Do they have logbooks on all the ships? We're doing the Glory 4/05 and would like to sign in! Rocky Not enough time for crusin'! Days Until Paradise on the Glory
glrounds Posted May 31, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Rocky, Yes, the GLORY has a logbook also, but was in the library "stacks" which are usually locked unless there is an attendant there (hours are posted). I signed it as well as signed for someone else on these boards who was too "busy" to get in there when she cruised the GLORY a month before me. Live well, love much, laugh often. marklodi Posted May 31, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 31, 2004 Famous? Me??? Wonder if Carnival offers any celebrity discounts...LOL! I'm just glad you're having a great time. You should have no problem getting your meds at that Wal-Mart - it's not very far from the ship at all. Just a few blocks to the south of where the Pride docks. Take care and, for cryin' out loud, stop posting and go have fun already! Mark ºoº 5/9/04 Pride Cruise - 1st Cruise! boom op Posted June 1, 2004 #17 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Kathy, another ? in Sun. S.F. Chronicle Travel section there is a article about photo kiosks that Carnival is trying out and it says that it is going to be installed on the Pride, something about using facial recognition to find you in any photo. kajsb Posted June 1, 2004 Author #21 Share Posted June 1, 2004 babies 12, The first night in 4228 was horrible. We hardly slept a wink. The noise from the engine was LOUD and the vibration horrible. We had to move the phone off the headboard and lamps off the tables to stop them from constantly rattling due to the vibration. It made for a very, very long night and yesterday I felt like a zombie. Last night was much better. The engine noise was a softer hum and the vibration was minimal. Of course, then with our luck, we had a nearby cabin playing loud music to all hours. I do have to tell you that the cabin is gorgeous! It is very spacious and has everything that you could ask for. But, I will need to rethink booking it again if this type of vibration and noise is expected. I wonder if an aft wraparound on a higher deck has as much noise and vibration. Cuz, I do love the wraparound! Kathy 05/30/04 Carnival Pride cruise & the wraparound balcony 06/28/04 Ecstasy- Mom's 80th birthday- It's no longer a surprise!! babies12 Posted June 1, 2004 #22 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Oh no, that is what I was afraid of. I hope that it doesn't continue for the rest of the week for you. I will check back with you later on it. In the meantime, have a fabulous time, you will love Puerto Vallarta, that was actually my favorite port. Till I sail away! mohavemommy Posted June 1, 2004 #23 Share Posted June 1, 2004 We didn't have an aft cabin, but I did notice more vibration on the last couple of days in the dining room than at the first of the cruise. Hope this turns out ok for you.
