ok.  I know that one.  We are doing the same excursion in December but using the actual vendor whose name I found on one of the reviews.  It's Roatan Getaway tours.  If you google that, you should get some decent reviews.  I know we have the option to pay cash when we get there which we preferred.

I have seen it marketed as Christopher Tours but never used them.

We had great experiences with Roatan Getaway Tours (April 2022 and April 2023). If we go back to Roatan, I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. You can book them directly on their website as well.

lots of time (30m each way?) driving to North Side of Island...

 

lots of time waiting at 'beach' for snorkeling time/boat... Don't expect an actual beach.  There is sand and a wall down to the water.  Concrete steps leading a bed of seaweed... 2 bathrooms/changing rooms for hundreds of people...

 

Food was a fried dough with meat...

 

The snorkeling is actually only two stops.  One location had two viewing areas (star fish and a reef, second was shipwreck)

 

This was booked through RC and is Christopher Tour

if there is only 2 of us that want to book the 3 stop snorkel trip, do they pair you with more people? or is it just the 2 of you?

I have no experience with Christopher Tours (and seems like that might be a good thing!) but Roatan Getaway Tours has a private, customized option. They are pretty responsive if you fill out the form on their website or email them with questions.
