Hotel question

Has anyone stayed at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort hotel pre-cruise?  What is it like?  Closest restaurants, shopping, etc.  Any information would be helpful.  We are doing the 14 day East/West Caribbean Adventurer in July.

Have not stayed there so can't comment on the hotel itself. Have been to Ft. Lauderdale many times. The hotel is basically right in the busy beach front area which sort of runs from Las Olas Blvd north to roughly where the hotel is located. There are lots of restaurants, bars right along the Beach Blvd (A1A) that are in walking distance. July is off season. Expect hot weather and strong sun.

The Mexican restaurant downstairs is very good.

We stayed there when our daughter had her beach wedding.  The hotel is very nice with a nice rooftop pool area and a walkway across A1A to the beach.  The only strange thing about the hotel was the bathrooms in the rooms.  There was a window that was covered with slanted wood slats.  If someone wanted to, they could look in to see what was happening inside.
