Amazing variety of NCL ships in New York

I just happened to notice that half the NCL fleet will be calling in New York, this year!

Just between April 15 and 22, the Manhattan Cruise Terminal hosted the Gem, Getaway, Prima, Sun, Breakaway, Dawn, and Epic!

Then the Joy from May, followed in August by the Escape, and in November, the Jade…

Incredible!😎

NCL uses NYC as an embarkation port for their transatlantic cruises. Many of these calls were to embark guests before sailing over to Europe.

and also a disembarkation port for the return transatlantic from Europe and then a embarkation port for the reposition cruise for the ship that need to return to Florida and elsewhere

i would love to see Norwegian return back to running 2 full time ships out of NYC like what it used to do. With Royal and now MSC doing the weekly Florida/Bahamas runs, that is a market that Norwegian is missing out i think. Yes those itinerary  is dull and boring but Norwegian has ship that can complete with the Oasis and soon to be Symphony of the Seas that is coming next year

As Ol' Blue Eyes used to sing, 'If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere!"...

Agree with shof515; I wish NCL would resume running 2 ships FT out of NYC!  One of the Breakaway/Breakaway Plus ships & a Jewel-class ship...sigh

True, but I don’t recall so many different ships from one line ever doing that from New York, within one year.

Absolutely!

NCL had previously “owned New York”, for many years since around 2003 or 4, being the only line to homeport at least 2 ships from there, all year round.

Prior to that, when the QE2 sailed away on her annual around the world cruise from New Years Day, until she returned in mid-April, there were no cruise ships sailing from the Port of New York.  NCL changed all that when she started with the Dawn and the Spirit sailing out of New York all year round, and every so often substituting newer vessels.  The Dawn was decorated inside and out with “New York” themes, as was the later Breakaway.

Sad to think NCL would relinquish her domination of the market…
