NCL $1000 OBC Limit question

Hello!

I was trying to buy OBC for my NCL trip however I saw there was a limit of 1k. However my travel agent gave me $250 so I was unsure if that counted against the limit. I tried calling NCL and the rep seemed clueless like no one has ever tried before. Was wondering if anyone had any experience here with the limit and if it is really enforced

Did you try it?  I'll need some for my cruise so I'll try it for you.

I haven't as the reason I want to buy the obc is because I'm using an Amex offer so I don't want to try it and have the charge reversed and lose the offer so wanted to get some data points first

I do know that NCL is strict about the amount they allow. They put restrictions in place when some px were exchanging too much currency.  So that wouldn't impact your situation.  Sorry I can't be any help.

Enjoy your cruise.

That actually does help a bit as I wanted to know how strict it was before I just jumped in. Thank you! 🙂

Also make sure you purchase multiples of the same OBC - I purchased different vouchers and although it went through as one transaction - they then billed against each individual value of credit which meant the offer didn't trigger. Cancelled them and repurchased 2 x $500 and it triggered.

All you had to do to get an answer is go to NCL and try to buy 1000 and see if it let you.  In the time it took you to surf over here, find the right thread, and post your question, you could have had it all taken care of! Just go buy whatever amount it will allow you to buy.  Simple solution!

I asked because it's a community here and I was worried about attempting to do it and layer the charge being reversered as it was over the limit and voiding my Amex offer.

Sorry to take time out of your day

Travel agent OBC does apply to the total and they are pretty strict. Have had it blocked by NCL since my contribution and TA's would put it over $1,000 of refundable.

Thank you! Was the anwser I needed 🎉

I had $50 shareholder OBC and bought 2x$500 for the AmEx promo.  This did not show up correctly in my documents although AmEx accepted and gave me the $250 cash back.  On board my room had a note for OBC $50 and only $500.  On the second day my TV showed correctly $50 and $1000.  The casino wanted 3% to transfer so I waited until the last day and cashed out.

There is no limit to non-refundable OBC which includes Shareholder, Amex Platinum benefit cash, NCL bonus cash, and some types of TA OBC.

They have a policy to limit refundable OBC to $1,000.

In my case I purchased $1,000 (to get Amex offer kickback).  My TA tried to buy me additional OBC, on their credit card, and were denied by NCL as it would result in refundable OBC being over $1,000.

A small note in addition to what has been said. It looks like when you max out the Refundable OBC it also doesn't let you buy spa credit either.

I did get the credit turns out this AMEX offer allowed you to make multiple purchases so was able to just buy some shore excursions and some other things to get over the amount
