Deep68 Posted May 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2023 Would you recommend Homewood Suites or Home2 Suites for a pre cruise stay? Tanks
dan4182 Posted June 4, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2023 Don’t know how far away either of them is from the cruise terminal(s). The hotel closest to the cruise terminal is Harbour House and then the Tremont House (listed on the National Register of Historic Places). Along Seawall Blvd are the San Luis, the Hotel Galvez and a # of other options. Uber recemtly signed an agreement with the Port of Galveston to allow them to do drop offs at the terminal. So that is a viable transportation option.
Galveston Cruiser Posted June 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2023 Anything east of 61st St. only takes minutes to reach any terminal. The island is only 2 miles wide at its widest. There are many options in all prices ranges. Choose what works the best for you.

ssb Posted June 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2023 Galveston is a major tourist destination in itself . There is more to do on the the island of Galveston than most of your Caribbean destinations . Start your vacation early and come in early before cruise . visitgalveston.com galvestonhistory.org galveston.com
cruisingcows Posted June 24, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2023 We have stayed in Webster and League City, and for our next cruise we're staying in Seabrook. We've also stayed on the island - it just depends on cost and how much time we have before the cruise. It's usually a lot less expensive to stay off the island, and it's still close enough for lyft, uber, or use a transportation service. Sometimes we do a one-way car rental from IAH to League City (Hertz) or La Marque (Budget) so we have a car to go shopping, visit NASA, get dinner, and then get a lyft from the car rental drop off to the port to next morning. Enterprise does have a location in Galveston, but they always seem to have a $100 one way drop fee. 1
tracyd1014 Posted June 25, 2023 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2023 The transfer service suggested Webster as a hotel location. Thanks for the info.

We have several looking to stay Fri/Sat in August for Allure cruise. We'll have our own cars so driving 30 mins or so won't be a problem. We need reasonable but nice hotel. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

We go down the day before, 4 hour drive to Galveston, arrive around 3 pm, just in time to check in. I used to live there and the upgrading of the interstate is sorely needed, but very inconvenient! wolfganghowell Posted March 7 #18 Share Posted March 7 Yes depending on how far you want to walk. Almost any place on the Seawall will have a restaurant within walking distance. I can't recall anything right there other than a pizza place because we always go to the same places and they were a few minutes by car.

We are looking for a pizza place or something similar. We don't want to spend a fortune and would prefer something within a few blocks.
wolfganghowell Posted March 11 #20 Share Posted March 11 Definitely look at Home 2 Suites - the pizza place is in the parking lot. It's been there for years and I've heard it's pretty good.
