Mestre to Ravenna Cruise port

Several suggestions:  the Ports of Call. Board that covers Italy.  Probably lots of discussion there about sailing from Ravenna, Trieste, Marghera…

Have you joined the roll call for your cruise?  A roll call is where other CC members on your cruise are talking about transfers and excursion (among other things).  Scroll down the main boards page and find ROLL CALLS, select your cruise line, then your ship, and look for a thread with the dates of your sailing.  EM

@Ah2302

Thank you for your new topic on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns Italy and is off topic there.

To help you out I have moved your new topic to the Ports of Call - Europe - Eastern & Western - Italy Ports forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have been there frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

For information about our Roll Calls, please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines. We also have the following Cruise Critic article you might enjoy8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call

The Cruise Critic website and message boards are a great resource for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you found us! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community categories list for the various message board forums. Read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there.

I sincerely hope this will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!

Happy sails,

Host Kat

We are flying to Venice and staying overnight in Mestre. Can anyone advise the best way to get from there to Ravenna cruise port? A taxi is far too expensive

If you are arriving early enough in the day I would recommend not staying in Mestre, just an industrial port.  From Mestre you can take the train to Bologna (gastronomic capital of Italy) for your overnight and in the morning take the train into Ravenna.  Actually, if you have the option, flying into Bologna is better for Ravenna, if you don't plan to visit Venice. Bologna has a monorail directly from their airport to the central station.  You can check the time schedule and reserve Italian trains on the German train site bahn.com

It is highly recommended to book trains with the actual official seller/operator.

For Italy that would be either:

Trenitalia (https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html)

or Italo (https://www.italotreno.it/en)
