Refund or Goodwill?

You probably should have taken the $750 for another cruise just in case you decide to book an additional cruise someday.

Here's what I would do in this situation:

Get a supervisor on the phone--it might take a few tries and some time on the phone, but it can be done (I've done it);

Politely express my irritation over the delay in refund, question the use of the word "goodwill;"

Insist on a compensation from Viking, in addition to the refund.

My experience has shown that this will almost always result in a nice travel voucher from Viking--which would assuage my injured feelings and give Viking some future business. A bit of a win-win.

There are two different situations being discussed...the OP did receive a check...BUT Breckski's post is about an entirely different  set of circumstances.  NO refund was offered only differening amouts of future cruise credits.
