Northern Light Cruise to Norway-Ship, time, itinerary?

We would like to experience Northern light cruise. Greatly appreciated for a suggestion of which cruise line, time frame and itinerary.

Northern lights can be seen from September to March north of the Polar Circle along the Norwegian west coast. . in 2023/2024 solar activity is high and therefore stronger northern lights. The route must include ports above the Arctic Circle - often Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Lofoten, Alta, and Narvik. Hurtigruten, Viking, P&O, Fred Olsen and others.

I think as well what cruise line is an often discussed subject here.  It comes down to how you wish to spend a majority of time.  I am on Viking.  It is a more low key  lifestyle; lectures, small music soloists and combos, art and conversation, relaxation in Spa and in the library. Adults only.  Other ships offer shows, casinos and production value, all ages welcome.  low capacity vs high capacity.

On Viking , if you request the service, you will be awakened if the Northern Lights appear while you are asleep.

I have heard from some here that it does not always work.  Some have said that audio announcement did not reach the rooms.  Others suggest leaving the room screen on to the bridge monitor with the speaker on.  The announcement  can then be heard in the room.

 

Northern Lights is a huge roll of the cosmic dice.  The Sun and weather need to align.
