bladerunner6 Posted May 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2023 We are on the the Solar Eclipse Cruise next year on the Discovery Princess. We are scheduled to be in port at 8 AM. While there are Masses all day long doing the 9AM might be nice. Does anyone here have first hand experience with these logistics? If you have first hand expertise I would be interested in hearing from you, please. Thanks.
Ashland Posted May 30, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2023 Just because you'll dock at 8am doesn't mean you'll get off the ship then. It has to clear and you then have to take a shuttle to get to the terminal.
Mike45LC Posted May 30, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2023 I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you -- I almost never rush off the ship when we are first cleared (unless I have a tour with an early start time). I'll have a leisurely breakfast and wait for the crush to clear. Ashland is correct about the shuttle in Mazatlan. Mazatlan is a working port, and once you get off the ship, you have to take a shuttle to the Cruise Passenger Terminal. You might be able to make it to the church by 9:00 a.m., but you might run a bit late. My guess is that you can still make it in time for communion. Mike45LC Posted May 31, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2023 Are you fluent in Spanish? I can sort of follow the Spanish language Mass because the Latin Mass is sort of similar, but the homily is painful for me to sit through.

But is Sunday Mass, a beautiful place to worship and I am pretty sure it will include a prayer for clear skies!
Mike45LC Posted May 31, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2023 It is a beautiful house of worship! And there are lots of nice restaurants around for lunch -- it is an easy walk over to Plaza Machado which has several restaurants.
