I'm so terribly sad

I know I should be happy today because I got our cruise documents, but yesterday our loving dachshund, Arnold, twisted his back and he is paralyzed. We rushed him to the vets and they sent us to a special animal hospital 30 miles away. Arnold had a mylogram?? (dye exray) and he will be operated on tomorrow morning. We've had dogs all our lives, but he is the most loving and needs to sit on someone's lap all the time. He's a dapple (grey, black, red, and a little white star trek ^ on his chest). Please think "good thoughts" for him. Thank God our cruise isn't until 3 1/2 weeks away or I would be staying home. Sorry for posting a sad note, but I need some good wishes. I will watch the board periodically, but I need to keep my phone line open so I can hear from the neurosurgeon. Thank you, to everyone who loves animals. sea-cruise

SOOOOOOOOOO sorry to hear about your little doggie. I have one too, and know what you must be going through, They are just like having kids. I will pray for him and hope all goes well, please keep us posted on his progress, cause I know that I will be checking back to see how things go.

I am so very sorry... I know how tough that has got to be (lots of prayers coming your way!!!)... we had to put two of our lifelong companions down in the last 6 months (one was 18 and one was 15, so they lived very long full, happy lives...), it is so heartbreaking when our pets suffer icon_frown.gif I am hoping everything will be okay...

We too have a dapple daschshund. After two pugs, we rescued our new dog (Gizmo). He is the sweetest animal on the planet. I know your heart is low but Arnold knows that you are doing all you can for him. Just give him the same love that you have been and he will want nothing else.

Our prayers go out to you and Arnold.

I know how you feel. We have two dogs, one a Chihuahua and one a "pound puppy". We love them like they're our children and would be heartbroken if anything happened to them. I can't even stand the thought of leaving them for a week when we cruise!

I understand what you're going through. We lost our little 16 year old cocakpoo Taffy just two weeks before we left for our last cruise in March. It broke my heart. Now we have her ashes buried in the back yard in my flower bed. It helps knowing that she's back home again.

 

Hopefully your little dog will pull through this. But you may have some very tough decisions to make. Whatever happens, remember that you're doing the best thing for Arnold. My thoughts are with you. Please keep us posted on Arnold's progress.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Arnold. We have had many trials with our ten month old Nuef and have seen tears run down my DH's face as this pup has been closer and more appreciative than most humans....and I sit here with welled eyes over your 'baby'. All will be as it is supposed to be and your Arnold knows that he is loved...more than many two legged souls. Take care of yourself and Russ, Nyla (MY baby) and I are pulling for your Arnold.

We send our thoughts and prayers for Arnold and your family. Veterinarians can work wonders. Ours did when our dog Jacques hurt his hip and it had to be set and casted for five days. Good luck and God Bless you. Cathy

Oh Arnold, get better....these little critters just pull at our heart strings, don't they? I had to put my 13yo Cairn Bounder down in Dec. and a day still doesn't go by that I don't look at his pic.
