Juneau/AJ Dock

Recommended Posts

We're on Norwegian Jewel in Juneau on Sept 7.  I just found out that we stop at the AJ Dock.  That looks like a 20 minute walk to the "main area" where other ships dock.  Is there some kind of shuttle from the AJ Dock or do most people just walk in?  Thanks!

Lots of shuttles running constantly. When they fill up the next one pulls up. The pick up downtown is right where the tram to Mt. Roberts starts.

nota bene: the shuttle lines get really long closer to all aboard time (like tender boats), but you are able walk back, though it would be easier if it were flat.

Thanks!  Free?

Shuttle buses in Juneau are free .
Just long lines first thing in the morning, afternoon many crew members going ashore for shopping.

Getting back to ship, lines not a big issue.

Just got off the Jewel yesterday and yes the walk is long with one long hill, but it is doable.  We had the choice to stand in line for the bus (we estimated it would be 4 buses worth to get to us) so we decided to walk.  It took about 25 to 30 minutes.

Shuttle is free. Long lines when the ship arrives and at the end of the port call. It is a long, uphill walk. In Sept it may still be hot in port. Take the bus.
