schmoopie17 Posted January 13 #26 Share Posted January 13 The thought of an aft balcony is intriguing. However, keeping the principle of a fulcrum in mind, there is more up and down motion in the back of the ship than mid-ship, where we usually park ourselves. Not sure we'd find that enjoyable. (And yes, I've heard that there is more motion at the front of the ship, than in back, but I somehow don't buy it.)
dexddd Posted January 13 #27 Share Posted January 13 Way back there were not many balcony classes. Afts were popular and they figured out they could charge more for them. Then all sorts of sub categories. We've sailed aft several times, up high. Seas never really an issue. Noise can be though. You could be under an aft outside dining area, above a theater or lounge, noise and movement from pods, props, or side thrusters.

We booked aft (first time) for upcoming Alaska cruise, as well as thermal spa and Vibe, to get away from people. It was a compromise for the Haven was just too darn expensive and we were going with friends who were not considering haven. With the thermal spa, Vibe, and aft balcony, you're going to have an amazing time! Haven or not!! Enjoy the stunning beauty of Alaska from the aft!!! Lots of !!!!:-) 1
