vaindioux Posted June 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2023 Hi 3rd time cruiser. MSC Seaside in the fall. we are watching lots of videos. In Costa-Maya we will go straight to the ruins, they say where we will go there is only a very expensive little to go food place. we were planning on bringing snacks in our back pack. The videos say no fruits, veggies, cheese or meats on land. Fair enough. But they say dry goods are ok??? Can i grab potatoe chips, cookies, pastries for example? The snacks would be only for the Costa-Maya stop. Thxs
JAGR Posted June 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2023 I would really doubt that security (ship or Mexican) would check your back pack. I think you'd be fine.
JT1962 Posted June 21, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2023 I haven’t seen them checking for food in Costa Maya. They do have dogs checking bags at the end of the pier in Cozumel, if your cruise stops there.
gunner22a Posted June 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2023 DON"T DO IT! A passenger in Australia just found out the hard way. $3200 AU fine for trying it. Other countries might not be as strict but why chance it.
Mark_T Posted June 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2023 (edited) I would always say do not bring any food off the ship at all, but if you are going to do it then commercially packaged snacks are least likely to cause a problem, so not unwrapped cookies or pastries... If in doubt ask the security staff, do not just try to sneak stuff ashore... Edited June 21, 2023 by Mark_T
