the Mediterranean Inn by seattle center is popular .  Four Points Sheiton at the Seattle Center is also better priced on todays prices compared.  The Paramount and Hotel Max are also good choices and lower than the first two (todays rates)

If you are part of a loyalty program you may get better rates

I would pick a hotel that has the amenities and location that you want (and at a price point that is comfortable for you).  I would suggest that you plan to take an Uber or a taxi to Pier 91.

Recently at Pier 91 a large family group (about 14) arrived at the pier with about 40 minutes to spare via public transportation.  The group consisted of about four family units, from adults, to elementary school kids, and HS age kids, as well as a grandparent in a wheelchair.  They had flown into SeaTac Airport that day, took light rail to DT Seattle, and then a local bus to Pier 91.

For passengers thinking about taking a public bus to Pier 91, it is doable, but it can be challenging.  The public bus (Metro #33) drops passengers off on a bridge overpass (Magnolia Bridge), and to get to Pier 91, one must walk down 2 flights of stairs.  This family group needed to carry the grandparent in a wheelchair down 2 flights of stairs.  Once down the stairs, it is a 1/4 mile walk to the terminal building..  Since they arrived  after 2 PM, the group had to carry their own luggage on board the ship as Carnival stops luggage collection/porter service exactly at 2 PM.

The group took all this in stride, but hoping they at least use a more efficient transportation back to SeaTac after their cruise - at least for the grandparent.

what an unfortunate start to what should be a fun time

The family was actually dealing with it pretty well.  So happy that there weren't any unforeseen delays that could have pushed their arrival time past the terminal "closed door" of 3:20 PM on Carnival cruise days.
