Primus Posted July 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2023 I'm in the process of booking an Antarctica cruise on the Endeavour. From looking at exterior pictures of the ship, it appears that all Classic Veranda Suites have metal rather than glass below the balcony rail which would block views unless standing. I can't find any information on SS website. Can anyone who has sailed on the Endeavour confirm which is correct? If it is metal, I'll spend the $ and upgrade to a Superior Verandah Suite for a better view. SS website is showing cabins 606, 663, and 668 being available although there may be more. Does anyone have experience with these cabins? 606 has the advantage of being close to outside deck viewing but disadvantage of more movement in bad weather. 663/668 would have likely have less movement but potential of more noise from the engines and pool/whirlpool/seating right outside the cabin. Also, these two cabins don't show a hallway between the cabin and neighboring cabin. Is that an advantage?
Rare calm down dear Posted July 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2023 I’m in 603 next year and would love to know as well !
Camber99 Posted July 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2023 A friend of mine sailed on the Endeavour when it was owned by Crystal and was in cabin 663. It had a great balcony. All glass…no metal. I’ve taken a screenshot of the ship and circled the balcony of cabin 663. I would imagine 668 is the same. One thing to note though is that it is at the end of the hall next to the door that leads to the upper level of The Grill. He said that he was never bothered by noise. FauxNom Posted August 23, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2023 I'm in 663 right now! It's a terrific suite. You can go down a staircase right outside the suite and you are at the grill. No noise at all and the end of the balcony has a wide open view. Adding a photo of the suite just for fun. 1

SakFive Posted January 10 #10 Share Posted January 10 663 and 668 are not Classic Veranda Suites, those are Superior ones. The Classic ones are the 500s, and 600-603. Has anyone stayed on these?
bubbulz Posted January 10 #11 Share Posted January 10 I stayed mid-ship on 6 and it was terrific. I was initially concerned about noise from the elevator and stairwell area, but there was no noise at all. (And great location for little motion through the Drake and other rougher spots.) BreakfastCruiser Posted August 2 #12 Share Posted August 2 Anyone stay in the Classic Veranda Cabins on Deck 5? We were just assigned Cabin #502 (we booked a Guarantee) and I feel very disappointed as on the photos on Silversea's website a Classic Veranda has the lower half of the balcony with glass: But then upon investigation now that I got my cabin it seems the lower 50% is blocked completely by metal. Super misleading from their end, I only found this photo from a travel review website which showed the reality: How unfortunate/annoying is that blocked lower half? I can see my cruise still has many Superior Veranda cabins available where they don't have this blockage - might ask at reception to be moved due to this misleading advertising... not sure if they will oblige though 😞

Respectfully, I understand and I don't expect a great location, but my main frustration here is that it seems 12 out of 16 (75%) of all Classic Veranda cabins have this 50% view blockage but Silversea decides to deceptively show a photo of a cabin with glass railing. Its misleading and hence I was surprised. Thus curious how other passengers have found this and if its as bad as I think 🙂 Edited August 2 by BreakfastCruiser
bubbulz Posted August 2 #15 Share Posted August 2 (edited) If you’re really unhappy with it, I’d suggest calling and asking what it would cost to upgrade. Expect to pay, though, since Silversea charges substantially more for the upgraded verandas than it does for a GTY even when the only difference is the location on the ship. (In my case and since I get seasick quite easily I always book a specific mid-ship cabin since I can’t afford the risk of ruining my trip.)
