br76jook Posted August 17, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2023 What recommendations do you have for a private freestyle tour? We'll have 3 of us, including a 10 year old and don't want to worry about safety or getting back to the ship on time. We definitely want to do an animal tour with sloths/monkeys/etc but also some shopping, chocolate factory and general island tour. Maybe some local food. c-leg5 Posted August 17, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2023 No beach or snorkeling? West Bay is renowned for snorkeling. Personally we find it too busy but if this is your first time it is probably worth a stop.
grantbob Posted August 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2023 Victor Bodden Tours "best of roatan" private tour. For 3 people its $30 per person for the guide and transportation all over the island and then you pay add ons for different things you want to do. (For example $10 per person to do the sloth/monkey tour - but many other stops are free). We've used them several times and had great days! Totally customizable to what you want and great email communication beforehand to line that out.
michiele Posted August 22, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) We did Victor Bodden's private tour a few years ago. We picked whatever we wanted and really enjoyed it. We did their zip line, hung out with their monkeys and sloths, went to West End to explore for a while, then went to West Bay for some snorkeling. I would do it again! #1TravelMom Posted September 17, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2023 We've used Ronystours MANY times. I highly recommend him. The freestyle tour is great - do everything at your own pace. He is a great guy. We have a great day with him every visit!

Snorkeling in West Bay is from the shore, boat is optional. I haven’t done it but it is very popular and there are numerous threads and discussions on this board if you look back.
