Hurricane Lee

Hopefully the Caribbean princess can just sail behind it.  Unless it damages piers up north it should be able to go on.  I think worst case is you would go south.  Don't worry too much.

I am leaving on Oasis on the 17th out of Cape Liberty.  Looks like we will be OK unless the forecast changes.

For everyone's sake, especially those currently on the Caribbean Princess, I hope and pray there will be no damage.

Thanks for your good thoughts. We are currently on CB and captain advised us yesterday evening that we would be skipping Charlottetown today, and going straight to Sydney Nova Scotia. Then skipping Halifax and Bar Harbour and heading straight to Boston two days early (so Friday September 15) and hunkering down over the weekend to ride out the storm in the port of Boston. We will leave Sunday night with a day at sea to put us in to NY on Tuesday September 19 as planned. He did indicate that we may have some rough waters. We’re hoping things go well. Safety is most important for us. Of course all of these plans may be altered again if Lee changes.

I’m on the same ship as you. Fingers crossed Lee doesn’t change directions. We might experience some choppy waters leaving Port Liberty. Hopefully, nothing too bad.

We're sitting here on pins and needles waiting to hear about our NCL cruise leaving NY on the 17th to NE & Canada. I'm very disappointed in NCL's lack of communication about the Hurricane. I keep getting the same canned response from agents saying at this time the hurricane has no impact on their itinerary. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure don't want to be sailing around in circles sea sick for 7 days in rainy, windy weather. Additionally I am worried about our ability to fly in to NY on Sat due to high winds. Kind of a double whammy.

Not sure of your exact itinerary, but it's looking like NYC should be fine on Saturday and Sunday and you would be moving behind the storm on your way to CA.  The only thing I would worry about would be port closures due to damage as you come in behind the storm and there is certainly no way for NCL to predict that in advance. *Fingers crossed* that everything goes smoothly for you and for all of the people in the path of the storm.

Right now Emerald Princess is still saying they're going up to New England and Canada, with two of the ports (Bar Harbor & Newport) already canceled. I think they still don't know how badly the storm will affect Boston, St John & Halifax. It would be awful to get on the ship, put up with rocky conditions and not be able to get to visit most of the ports. I wish they had canceled or offered a different itinerary.

What is your sail date?

Bailymouse- how did you hear about the cancelled ports?  I have heard nothing. Packing a few warm weather clothes, a few cool weather clothes and a few cold and rainy clothes.  It is a pain and I am packing more than I usually would.

Someone who posted on a different site said that that was the answer they got, but I take everything with a grain of salt. Right now everything is still showing in the app. I seriously doubt we would tender, since even regular stormy weather can prevent that from happening.

We are scheduled to leave Halifax on 9/20 on the Silver Cloud, joining the ship coming from Iceland. We are flying in on the 19th, and hoping the weather will be out of the area by then, but I would guess it depends on how fast or slowly it moves. We have heard nothing from anyone about the ship enroute or contingency plans. I think everyone is just hoping for the best.

It’s been a rocking and rolling kind of day. We went through some large swells and lots of whitecaps out there. Insignia is a small ship, the larger ones may not feel the motion as much.  Right now things are a little calmer, and not as much movement. I think we are by the Carolinas.

on enchanted last september we had no hurricane but missed 3 ports on a 7 day canada cruise. the casino got rich those days! got 35% future credit but never used it.  so id think with a hurricane around it would only be rougher

Was on the Carnival Magic 10th-16th. Itinerary was changed from Bermuda to Bahamas.  Sunday through Thursday weren't bad. Just a little choppy. Friday into Saturday morning was rough, though. Captain said we were following the storm. 10-12 foot seas the whole way.  Didn't ruin the trip, though.
