mcoler181 Posted September 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2023 Are you allowed to bring these on board? As we are from the UK, instead of bringing multiple travel adaptors as I believe there are two US and two European sockets in each cabin, I was thinking to bring a 4 socket extension lead but I have something in the back of my mind that these are banned on cruise ships and people have had them taken off them on boarding. Mark_T Posted September 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2023 Just make sure it doesn't have 'surge protection', the way they work is not compatible with the way power is supplied on cruise ships.
sidari Posted September 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2023 Take one every time we cruise and not just on MSC.
CruisingFox27 Posted September 18, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2023 We've always found a couple of these to be very useful. We have ones which come with multiple international adapters.
KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted September 18, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2023 After over 100 cruises including 9 others on MSC, I had my (what we call) power strip confiscated by Security at Port Canaveral while entering the terminal for MSC Seaside. Supposedly they're not allowed. I did not try to hide it; it was in the inside zipper part of my carry-on suitcase but it was noticed going through the x-ray machine. They told me I could get it back after clearing Customs on the final morning of the cruise but my room steward brought it to me on the final night. Again, I've taken this same cord on 9 other MSC cruises before this one. Perhaps you can hide yours better.
Heartgrove Posted September 19, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2023 We are on the Preziosa right now. It seems that plugged into the 110V socket it does not fully charge our devices. They do using the 220V with an adapter. ??? Never had this happen before.
