Is beach day the only option

DH is not a beach person so should we just stay on the ship or is there other options in port?

You can rent a golf cart or do a sightseeing excursion that takes you to the lighthouse, but at the cruise port, it's primarily a beach day.

We rented a golf cart and toured around.  For us, that was nice, but also will be a once and done.  There are some beautiful views to be seen, but you will also see a lot of local life as well.  Lots of donkeys!  The beaches are beautiful though.

 

I personally would at least get off and walk over to the area right off the ship with the shops and such.  and see the ship from that view, it's nice!
