With the bad hurricane that hit Acapulco, it’s has taken so much damage from the Cat 5 Hurricane. Just wondering if cruise lines have been canceling that stop.

hope the best for everyone in Acapulco

Funny thing about the Port of Acapulco is that only the cruise lines of NCLH (NCL, Oceania, and Regent) stop at that port (with Crystal the only exception on a single cruise).  All the other cruise corporations and lines have avoided that port for some time.  One can speculate as to the reason, but the US Department of State has long advised, "Do Not Travel" to that State because of crime.

We are not sure how long it will take Acaplulco to recover from all the hurricane damage, but the crime situation is not projected to go away anytime soon.

I saw some pictures and news story of a cruise ship in port the day after the storm,  people were walking around some of the fallen debris but it was back open.

Of course can’t give up the $$…. Im hoping for a cancelation for that stop

Is there anything to do close to the terminal? It would be nice to get off the ship and at least walk around.                                                                                                  /

I do not think anything good comes out of me speculating on a specific neighborhood.  But here is the current warning on the U.S. Department of State's web site:

Guerrero state – Do Not Travel

Do not travel due to crime.

Crime and violence are widespread. Armed groups operate independently of the government in many areas of Guerrero. Members of these groups frequently maintain roadblocks and may use violence towards travelers. U.S. citizens and LPRs have been victims of kidnapping in previous years.

Travel for U.S. government employees is limited to the following area with the noted restrictions:

  • Taxco: U.S. government employees must use Federal Highway 95D, which passes through Cuernavaca, Morelos, and stay within downtown tourist areas of Taxco. Employees may visit Grutas de Cacahuamilpa National Park during the day with a licensed tour operator.

U.S. government employees may not travel to other areas of the state of Guerrero, including to tourist areas in AcapulcoZihuatanejo, and Ixtapa.
