Is there much difference in taxi vs Uber from FLL airport to port?

We won't have any cell phone service with our Canadian cell phone.   We would like to use Uber to get to the port from the Fort Lauderdale airport but can't use our cell phone.   Is there any way to use Uber without a cell phone or should we get a taxi to the port?  Any info appreciated.

Uber does now offer a phone number for requesting a ride. You can also request service when connected to a wifi hotspot. In either case, you would not be able to contact your driver without access to a hotspot. I don't think Fort Lauderdale airport offers wifi at the curb.

There shouldn't be a substantial difference between a taxi and a rideshare, especially if staying in Dania or on 17th Street.

We are going to the port area from the airport direct.   (No hotel stay).

You really should consider flying in at least the day before, assuming you are going on a cruise. You do not want a flight delay to cause you to miss your cruise.

Please also remember to allocate time to clear US customs and immigration (whether you clear at departure or arrival in the US).

We often fly in the day before but for this cruise we have a direct flight to FLL and there would be other flights that could get us to FLL for the cruise.

We have 6 hours between the flight arriving and the ships departure so a little leeway in case the flight is late arriving in FLL.

Take a taxi. We tried Uber in Feb. Ordered using Wifi in terminal but lost connection at curbside. Did eventually find our Uber but was charged extra "wait time". He was next to us and by chance we saw him and asked if he was our ride. Not worth the hassle,
