Sydney-Auckland or Auckland-Sydney

Hello-We are getting ready to book the Princess 13-night cruise for February 2025. Flying from the US through Honolulu and trying to decide which direction would make sense (if it even matters). We can fly direct from Sydney or Auckland back home at the end. Thanks for any thoughts and input.

Are they both the same ports of call.  If so, it depends which end you want the shortest flight.

The itineraries are exactly the same. The flights are only about an hour different. So I guess it really doesn't matter. 😀

No.  It might make a difference if you want to stay longer at one, but both are beautiful places to stay.

Go with the one that suits your calendar best. 

 

Some say that an early morning arrival into Milford Sound is better than doing it in the afternoon. That would point to Sydney to Auckland being marginally better.

There will be a bigger choice of flights into and out of Sydney, compared to Auckland.

Also check that you can get a cabin on the landward side of the ship for each voyage. Port if coming from Sydney, starboard if coming from Auckland, for best views from your balcony.
