Thundery Posted December 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2023 Surely more festive than the Splendour IMO, not a splash of red anywhere. Think they went for the elegant look which it is, but not very Christmasy. AGAIN only my opinion
Travel-or Posted December 14, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2023 Is the garland wraps on the stairs and railings real or plastic? I was on the Navigator Christmas cruise in '08 and I may be mis-remembering that the greens where real. The decorations where mind blowing and I recall they went up overnight. I might be romanticizing my memory so there is that...

MarinerLad Posted December 14, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2023 Beautiful! Can you ask them to keep the decorations up until a few days after the World Cruise Gala? 😀

Rare lprp Posted December 15, 2023 #10 Share Posted December 15, 2023 The decorations are great aren’t they @flossie009, which is more than can be said for the sea conditions at the moment 🌊🌊. @Travel-or the garlands on the stairs are sadly not real, the scents would be fabulous if they were.

Yes it has been a bit rocky and it was a shame to miss St Bart’s. However the seas seem a touch calmer this morning, but still windy. Today is Friday or as we know it “Almond Croissant Day” 😋 going …….. ……… going ………. ………. gone Life is good 😎 4

Rare lprp Posted December 15, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 15, 2023 Today we were treated to Nature’s decoration in the form of a “Sun Dog”, a phenomenon I’d never heard of or seen before, I’m advised there is a Moon version too:
CJANDH Posted December 16, 2023 #15 Share Posted December 16, 2023 The weather is much improved. However, the included excursion we took today came nowhere close to a Regent shore trip standard. It was a "best of" bus tour, which are often pretty ordinary. But this one was awful and about the quality you would expect on a mass market cruise. First, the bus was old and dirty. Then it was absolutely full. Then it went nowhere of interest. (A really amateur aquarium and a grass covered fort). And finally it spent the final hour at a beach without any pre warning that would have allowed us to take swimwear and towels. The tour guide could also not find toilets for us at the beach stop. Not a good thing for a bus load of geriatrics!! On board all is still excellent. We may decide that staying on the ship is the best option.

Was it this one that we caught sight of at the rum distillery ? 🤣 Sorry your tour was no good. Ours was “OK”. Bus, driver & guide were good, but there were too many guests in the group, meaning that the guide was inaudible when off the bus. We have given feedback to Destinations. We are trying a tour of Spice Farms and another rum distillery this afternoon. Looking forward to seeing what dishes are offered at the Caribbean Buffet tonight 2

I will be interested in seeing how well they pull off the bbq indoors along with dance party for entire ship in Horizon. We had this happen once before when Beatles night on deck got rained out and it was a bit of a disaster.

flossie009 Posted December 17, 2023 Author #22 Share Posted December 17, 2023 Making our way back to the ship after an excellent excursion in Grenada (GND-001 The Spice of Our Lives) A similar type of itinerary to yesterday in Guadeloupe ……… but so, so much better 😁 A group of 18 guests on a small bus with a congenial driver/guide. Plus very knowledgeable guides at each of the locations we visited (spiced jam factory, spice garden and a rum distillery)

I can't see any way they can accommodate all those people in the space available.

There are around ten 6-tops set up on covered area of pool deck that we can sit at now. It will be interesting at dance party to see how many attend in shorts. Not my circus not my monkey; I will just be an observer. Edited December 17, 2023 by mrlevin
Rare lprp Posted December 17, 2023 #25 Share Posted December 17, 2023 (edited) Our tour, GND-006 Mountain Rainforest, Grand Etang and Annandale was a bit sub-par. The visit to Laura Spice Garden was very interesting, the guide was very knowledgeable. The rest of the trip was “meh”, underwhelming. It wasn’t helped by the torrential downpours, we didn’t see the rainforest, just the rain….. When we returned to the ship we found that P&O Britannia was berthed next to us. I took a photo of the ships side by side. We discovered that the ship had left Barbados yesterday and was not scheduled to call at Grenada, unfortunately there was a medical emergency so they made an unscheduled stop😔. The photo is to show the difference in size of the ships, with no disrespect meant to the unfortunate evacuee.
